Pastor Jeff Shue

Pastor Jeff was saved at the age of 18 in an independent Baptist church in North Carolina where he grew up. He did not surrender his call to preach until camp meeting in August 1986. He then went off to Bible College and studied at Tabernacle Baptist Bible College in Greenville, SC where he received a 3-year degree in Theology with a mission focus.

He met his wife, Bettina, while in college. Bettina graduated from Bob Jones University with a B.S. degree in Executive Secretarial. They were married in May 1990.

Immediately following their graduation in May 1990, they moved to Alaska where Pastor Jeff served as an Assistant Pastor under his father-in-law, Earl Barnett, at Soldotna Baptist Church until April 1996.

They both surrendered as full-time missionaries in 1995, sold their home and began full-time deputation in April 1996. They arrived on the field of South Texas/Mexico border located in the Rio Grande Valley full-time in October 1998. They began their ministry in the RGV working under another ministry until July 2001. Their ministry has consisted of assisting independent Baptist Churches in the RGV and across the border with supplies, outreach ministries, conferences and other helps.

In January 2002, God led them to start Valley Independent Baptist Missions in Donna, Texas as a help’s ministry for missionaries and national pastors in Mexico. They provide temporary housing, stateside mail service, vehicle storage, literature distribution, conferences in Mexico and a Christmas outreach ministry in Mexico.

Pastor Jeff and Sister Bettina became a part of Canaan Baptist Church in April 2014. When the former pastor resigned in May 2020, Pastor Jeff stepped in as the interim pastor. He has remained faithful in building God’s church and was officially voted on as full-time pastor in February 2022.
